Long, long time ago I got a Lapsteel guitar. I have tried to play it but, in the pre-internet era, I never figured out how. But even now it appeared to be very difficult to find out detailed information about this instrument. A lot of searching and sending emails around finally resulted in a reply from the Music Instruments Museum in Markneukirchen (Germany), the town in which the factury was founded. They even sent me a picture of the original advertisment leaflet:
